FEMA head quits over Katrina

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - The head of the U.S. disaster agency resigned on Monday amid a storm of criticism over Washington's response to Hurricane Katrina as the confirmed death toll from the calamity passed 500, including 45 victims found inside one abandoned New Orleans hospital.
