Google Hires Lead Camino Developer Mike Pinkerton

Lead Camino developer Mike Pinkerton has announced that he has accepted a position at Google. Mike will be joining the Mozilla Firefox team at the search giant but will continue to work from his home in Virginia. Google allows its employees to spend 20 percent of their time working on anything that interests them and Mike plans to use a large portion of this time to work on Camino.

Mike was employed by Netscape from 1997 until 2002. He is currently working out his notice at America Online, where he is a member of the Mac software group. He also teaches the Development of Open-Source Software class at the George Washington University. Google has been building up its Mozilla workforce over the past few months and now has Ben Goodger, Darin Fisher and Brian Ryner on its payroll.
