Litmus Testing Tool in Testing

The Mozilla Quality weblog has requested help testing Litmus, a new Web-based Mozilla testing tool. Litmus guides users through a series of simple manual tests to check that the basic functionality of Mozilla products works correctly. The tool is designed to be used with recent nightly builds, enabling regressions to be found quickly.

The Mozilla quality assurance team is keen for Litmus to get some small-scale testing now before it's promoted to a wider audience. Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird testers interested in experimenting with Litmus should follow the instructions in the weblog post and leave feedback and comments there. Any Firefox and Thunderbird problems discovered in the process should be posted to Litmus itself.

Litmus was developed by Zach Lipton while he worked for the Mozilla Foundation as an intern over the Summer. It builds on the Test Runner tool, which is currently only used internally within the Mozilla Foundation.
