Rita strengthens and moves into US Gulf

MIAMI (Reuters) - Rapidly strengthening Hurricane Rita lashed the low-lying islands of the Florida Keys with squalls on Tuesday and threatened Gulf Coast communities to the west with a possible encore to devastating Hurricane Katrina.
